Shelby County is seeking candidates for the role of GIS Specialist in the Information Technology Services department. The GIS Specialist coordinates and performs technical work supporting the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of Shelby County Government's enterprise geographic information system. The position creates, maintains, and analyzes spatial and non-spatial data; produces maps and other visual products; supports GIS applications and geodatabases; assists with mobile field data collection; and helps County agencies apply geospatial information to operational, engineering, planning, and public-service needs. All employees hired after September 1, 1986, must be residents of Shelby County and shall continue to reside in the County as a condition of their employment.
